Employer - Assessment
Epidemiological and demographic analysis / economic impact reporting
Studies have shown that the prevalence of HIV in one group can vary significantly from that of the national statistics. That’s why Aid for AIDS encourages companies to carry out a baseline prevalence and impact analysis. Without first establishing an organisation’s specific situation, it is impossible to measure the outcome of an HIV/AIDS management programme.
An HIV prevalence assessment and impact analysis will:
- Assess current HIV prevalence
- Project future trends in HIV prevalence within the group
- Estimate the current proportion of HIV-infected employees who are likely to develop AIDS
- Project the likely trend of AIDS sickness given the prevalence estimation
- Emphasise the benefits of antiretroviral therapy in reducing illness and absenteeism in AIDS sick employees
- Illustrate short and medium-term projections in order to calculate financial losses as a result of HIV/AIDS
- Analyse the impact of HIV on the following:
- Absenteeism
- Training costs
- Recruitment costs
- Reduced productivity
- Increase in the use of all available forms of leave
Once the analysis is completed, a comprehensive report will be compiled and presented to the client.
Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices (KAP) Surveys
KAP surveys are carried out to better understand what a company’s employees know about HIV/AIDS, their attitudes toward it and whether they are at risk of infection.
The surveys are conducted anonymously to protect your employees’ confidentiality. The results are then analysed and a report is generated which:
- Identifies trends among the group
- Highlights issues that need intervention
- Identifies areas that have been adequately addressed
- Provides solutions, recommendations and strategies to address the above issues and trends
With this information we can formulate or adjust our client’s HIV strategy to respond to the issues identified in the survey.
